A Quiet Moment

This relief print is not a linocut or woodcut. It is a matboardcut! I used an exacto blade and cut matboard away from either side of the thin black lines of the body and background. Then I coated the matboard with sanding lacquer to protect it from solvents when I clean ink off the plate.

I wanted to capture that moment when we are alone with our thoughts, thinking of the future or even of the past. She is in her own world.

I really like the way her toes rested on her calf.
